Recent Progress of Metal-Oxide-Based Catalysts for Non-Oxidative Coupling of Methane to Ethane and Hydrogen

Methane is the fundamental raw material of C1 chemical industry, with abundant reserves. Its direct conversion into high-value-added chemicals has great scientific significance and broad commercial potential for efficient use methane resources. However, it difficult to convert more useful hydrocarbons hydrogen, as reaction usually requires external energy overcome thermodynamic limitations. Non-oxidative coupling produce ethane hydrogen a promising supply technology. Catalysts which can be adapted various sources are key this In recent years, considerable progress been made in design application these thermal photocatalysts. This review outlines some typical catalysts, reviews understanding mechanisms. Finally, suggestions development high-selectivity high-stability catalysts future presented.
